I have a MacPro 5.1 running macOS Mojave 10.14.6. My Photos library is on a secondary internal drive. It was working a few days ago, but not it will not open. When I try and open it while holding command-option it prompts for a repair of the library, which I do. However, it gets stuck at 5%. What can I do to resolve this? Though repairing the library is supposed to fix problems, it’s a good idea to backup the Mac and your photos library into Time Machine, or your backup method of choice, before attempting to repair it. This is a precautionary measure just in case something happens to go wrong in the repair process.
The hang has been going on for over 24 hours. Photos won't let you quit the application without force quitting. Which I did a couple of times before seeing a post that I shouldn't do it.
I have another program called Power Photos from which I can access all my libraries. It shows which library is active in Photos and you can select another one for Photos to open. It shows the hanging one as the one open in Photos.
I can view individual photos in Power Photos and open them in Preview. Should I try to get Power Photos to open the problem library?
After upgrading to Mac 10.11 El Capitan, when I open Photos App I get the the window of Updating Library. The process continues normally until the progress bar reaches 85% then I get the following error.
If I quit and reopen the Photo App, the process of updating starts agian until it reaches 85%, then I'll get the error again.
My library was functioning normally on the latest Yosemite. iCloud Library is off.
Photos Repairing Library Is Stuck In Iphone
I've tried to repair the library by holding cmd+option keys while opening Photos App but I get that the Library is not recognized, which makes sense since the updating process was never completed. Thus, Photos App on El Capitan will not be able to recognize the library created on Yosemite without updating. I'm no expert in this matter but, at least, this what my basic understanding tells me.
Any Suggestion ?
